AI Has Arrived: Welcome to the Next Generation of KeyShot Studio

Captura 1 1

Great designers never stop exploring—and neither do we. At KeyShot, our team is always developing new tools to help you achieve stunning visuals faster and more intuitively. So we are absolutely thrilled to introduce KeyShot Studio AI, available in our newest version released today!

KeyShot Studio AI gives you three new ways to amplify your creativity—whether you’re exploring styles, building scenes, or dreaming up what’s next. Everything runs locally and fits right into your existing workflow, with you in full control.

We’re inviting you to explore all the AI-powered possibilities, and we cannot wait to see what you come up with.

One Scene, Unlimited Styles: Explore Instantly with Restyle Mode

Rebuilding a scene for every new visual direction limits creativity and eats up valuable time. With the new AI-powered Restyle Mode, you can generate new style directions in seconds* using a simple prompt — keeping your original layout intact and your creative momentum flowing. Because everything happens inside KeyShot Studio, transitions feel natural and fast.

Restyle Mode is recommended for:

  • Rapid Design Variation & CMF Exploration  – Quickly explore different materials, finishes, and colorways, all while preserving lighting, camera, and model geometry. Ideal for CMF teams, concept designers, and stakeholders needing fast visual feedback.
  • Brand style adaptation – Easily apply unique brand looks or seasonal themes to existing visuals for regional markets or campaigns. Great for marketing and packaging teams managing global brand variants.
  • Creative Pitch Generation – Produce multiple stylistic directions for presentations or mood board development, directly from CAD scenes. Ideal for agencies and in-house creatives who need speed and flexibility.

Designer-friendly details

Perfect for designers, brand teams and product visualizers, Restyle Mode enables you to rapidly generate design variations using natural language. This mode is also a time-saver, allowing teams to experiment with colorways, materials, and moods quickly, without manual rework.

  • Depth pass: Restyle Mode understands the shape/form of the models in your scene. This also means that the AI model doesn’t have a notion of the back of models, nor occluded areas. It understands the geometry as a 2D-depth image, “seeing” the scene as a clay or diffuse version.
  • Normals: Restyle Mode understands the surface normals of the models in your scene and will use them to maintain the shape of your 3D objects.

Put your product anywhere — from luxury lofts to lunar landscapes with Background Mode

Creating backgrounds often requires extra tools, advanced knowledge, and lots of time. Background Mode simplifies this process, turning your rendered product images into compelling scenes with AI-generated environments — all generated locally, without compromising privacy or context. No modeling or lighting setup is required: KeyShot Studio AI respects geometry and camera framing to ensure every backdrop fits.

Background Mode is recommended for:

  • Photorealistic Scene Generation – Add realistic environments (indoor, outdoor, lifestyle) to isolated product renders without touching the model. Perfect for ecommerce, catalog shots, and contextual marketing imagery.
  • Localization & Campaign Customization –Drop the same product into multiple regional or seasonal environments for targeted visuals. Ideal for brand teams or retail marketing adjusting visuals by market.
  • Scene Prototyping Without Set Design – Create fast, believable product scenes for pre-visualization or campaign mockups, no studio required. Useful for marketing teams prototyping product-in-use scenarios.

Designer-friendly details

Background mode works by making a stencil of the model in your scenes and then generating the background outwards, leaving the subject untouched. This mode also understands camera and spatial layout, working well on finished renders, providing you credit-free generation while skipping the manual scene-building.

Enjoy unlimited generations and zero constraints with Imagine Mode

It’s hard to explore bold ideas when every iteration means setting up a new scene or composition. Imagine Mode allows you to create quick, high-quality visual concepts instantly. Spark new directions, unblock ideas, and create conceptual imagery for accelerated decision-making and alignment between Creative, Marketing, and Sales — all before modeling anything. With no credit system, you can keep generating until something clicks.

Imagine Mode is recommended for:

Concept Ideation & Visualization – Generate visuals from scratch using text prompts, helpful when no model exists or when visualizing abstract concepts. Great for early-stage innovation, product pitches, or creative direction.

Campaign Art & Creative Moodboarding – Visualize campaign themes, storytelling angles, or stylistic experiments to align teams and stakeholders. Ideal for art directors, content creators, and agencies.

AI-Enhanced Brainstorming –Use visual prompts to spark new ideas or refine creative direction iteratively — all locally and instantly. Empowering for design leads and cross-functional workshops.

Designer-friendly details:

Prompt-responsive for unlimited ideation, Imagine Mode requires zero modeling or setup, and is easy to include in your workflow.

*KeyShot AI Security & Usability Details

It wouldn’t be AI without a few asterisks. Here’s what to know and how to get the most of out KeyShot Studio AI:

Security

Restyle, Background and Imagine Modes work locally on your own computer. No information leaves the user’s machine; no internet connection is required, following the intial download of the feature (see more below). This makes it possible for you to make full use of the generative image AI, even when working with extremely confidential products, as there is no risk of data leaks or other security issues.

Support

For AI Shots, KeyShot requires a Windows PC with an NVIDIA or AMD GPU that has at least 16 GB of memory or a Mac with 16 GB of memory and an M1 or newer CPU. AI Shots can also run using only the CPU, but this is much slower and not generally recommended.

Higher resolution images will require more memory. It is recommended to start out with low resolution images such as 512 x 512 before trying higher resolution images. Higher resolution images also takes longer to generate. AI Shots will enable CPU rendering in order to free up memory for the GPU; we recommend not enabling GPU rendering while using AI Shots due to the high memory requirements. Using the GPU for other tasks will also slow down AI Shots.

AI Results

All generative AIs are random and unreliable in nature. That also goes for the generative image AI. Sometimes a certain mode, prompt and 3D object will work well and give desirable results, other times the ingredients just don’t mix, and the generated images do not meet user expectations. While algorithms and training data can always be improved, it is unlikely there will ever be guaranteed quality results no matter what when working with any generative AI.
