Visiting clients is always one of the most rewarding parts of my job. It’s a chance to step outside the Enfocus office and see how our software impacts real print shops. Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting Truyol, a leading print service provider in Alcorcón, Madrid, Spain—and what a story they have!
A family business with vision
Truyol began in 1983 as a small photo printing workshop. By the 1990s, they were already making bold decisions—being the first in Madrid to invest in digital printing machines. Growth came quickly, but the real turning point came in 2014, when they began to adopt automation.
Today, Truyol is a thriving business with 177 employees, 180 machines (and more on the way) and the ability to handle between 700 and 800 jobs daily, exceeding 1000 during peak seasons, often with same-day or next-day delivery.
Not bad for a company that just a few years ago processed barely 100 jobs a day!
A warm welcome
On September 11th, I arrived in Truyol accompanied by Pedro, our videographer. We were greeted by Marisa, the Marketing Director, Joaquín, the CEO, Alexandra from the Marketing team, Miguel, the Automation expert, and Walala, the family’s friendly dog, who followed us everywhere.
From the first handshake, we felt the warmth of a company that is more than a workplace — it’s a family.
Leadership that inspires
Miguel spoke proudly about Joaquín, the CEO:
He grew up in this business and has shaped it into what it is today. I’ve seen him emerge from under a printing press with his hands covered in grease. He knows every detail of this company.

That leadership has fostered a culture where employees feel valued, respected, and want to stay. As Miguel summarized it:
We’re happy here; we feel like family. Automation has allowed us to increase profits, improve salaries, and still offer lower prices to our customers. Everyone wins.

One of my favorite anecdotes? Joaquín once brought in a supermarket trolley to move orders around the workshop. At first, the employees were puzzled, but it quickly proved so useful that they added more trolleys. Sometimes, simple, ingenious ideas make the biggest difference.
Adopting automation with Switch
Truyol started using Enfocus Switch in 2018. For those unfamiliar with Switch, it stands out as the most flexible and affordable automation platform in the graphics industry:
- Connectivity – integrates with any application, hardware, or system.
- Appstore – Enfocus’s online store where you’ll find hundreds of ready-to-use workflow solutions.
- Scripting – the limit is your imagination; if you can think it, you can do it.
Initially, Truyol used Switch for only one workflow. But once the team discovered its true potential, expansion was rapid, implementing processes across the entire company.
Miguel shared how he relies on the active and collaborative Switch user forum, as well as the growing Appstore, to complement and expand his workflows.
The secret to maximizing the use of your digital printer
By combining Switch with PitStop, Truyol completely transformed the prepress process:
- They went from 10 people in prepress managing 100 jobs a day
- A 6 people in prepress managing 700–800 jobs daily, exceeding 1000 during peak seasons.
- The other four members were reassigned to customer service, where they now generate added value for customers.
Miguel summed it up perfectly:
There would be no way to achieve such a smooth and efficient order processing for those 700–800 jobs without PitStop and Switch. Without them, the prepress process would take hours, the machines would be idle, or we would have to halt processes here and there. Thanks to Switch, we have a continuous flow of orders to the machines and deliver without interruption.

That’s efficiency, scalability, and customer focus, all rolled into one. At Truyol, no two years are alike. Growth has meant constant building expansions, new equipment, new product lines, and more colleagues joining the family.
We work with HP, Canon, Xerox, Fuji… We have many different machines that speak many different languages, and Switch helps us act as the translator to communicate with them all. It allows us to prepare files perfectly for each case, starting with a single input file, and even output the same file prepared for different machines.

Ahead of their time
Miguel is largely the mastermind behind Truyol’s automation success. Long before web-to-print solutions and MIS systems were widely available, Truyol had already developed its own in-house systems.
And yet, Enfocus software can be seamlessly integrated with these custom tools. This flexibility has been key to its continued growth.
PitStop in action
We also met Jonas from the prepress team, who praised how Enfocus continues to improve PitStop with each version. PitStop is essential for quality control and correcting all possible technical aspects of a PDF file to ensure a perfect print.
Most importantly, despite having a fully automated environment, PitStop Pro continues to provide added value in terms of customer service and specific manual changes that the customer may require.
At Truyol, they have also integrated Switch and PitStop Server into their online approval process — another example of how they adapt tools to improve the customer experience on their own web store.
As Pedro and I were leaving, they gave us a folder full of Truyol product samples: calendars, puzzles, stickers, boxes, cards, and more. Each piece showcased different papers, inks, and finishes. It’s comforting to know that our software has contributed to producing such consistent and beautiful results.
Final reflections
Truyol is a true example of what happens when visionary leadership , a committed team, and intelligent automation come together. Their journey from a small photography studio to a digital printing powerhouse is simply inspiring.
And for us at Enfocus, it’s a reminder of why we do what we do: helping printing companies like Truyol grow, evolve, and thrive.
